A Plan for the Implementation of A Bicycle Facility in Greater Banjul

The GDEI Energy, Infrastructure and Climate Science committee is proposing to design a Shared Use Bike Trail along the Greater Banjul area as an alternative form of transportation. A shared use bike trail is a path or route that is designed or designated for cycling and pedestrian use. It can be paved or unpaved, on-road or off-road, linear or looped. A bike trail can provide multiple benefits for the environment, the economy, the society and the health of both people and wildlife. The bike trail can be designed to avoid sensitive areas and minimize the impact on the environment. GDEI is currently working to develop partnerships with Gambia local government and other parties.
