GDEI Donates Peanut Butter to Support School Feeding Program in The Gambia

The Gambia Diaspora Experts Initiative (GDEI) is excited to announce a substantial
contribution to the school feeding program in The Gambia. We have donated a 40-foot
container filled with 20 pallets of 40oz Peter Pan Peanut Butter, made possible through
the generous support of 8th Avenue Food and Provisions Inc. in Troy, Alabama, USA.
This donation is a crucial step toward improving food security and nutrition for
schoolchildren in the region.
Muhammedan Lower Basic School in Banjul was the first recipient of this peanut butter
donation, an event highlighted on national television that showcased the positive impact
of this initiative on the community. Kenneth Manneh, representing GDEI, played a key
role in coordinating and executing this project. We extend our heartfelt thanks to him for
his dedicated efforts.
We sincerely thank the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MOBSE) for
facilitating a duty waiver and ensuring a smooth distribution process. Special thanks to
Dr. Ebrima Sankareh for connecting us with Honorable Claudiana Cole at the Ministry of
Education and for assisting with the duty-free waiver.
Our gratitude and appreciation extend to Ousman Madikay Faal for managing the
shipment from Troy to The Gambia and to Mawya Deen of the Atlanta Clearing Agency
for overseeing the clearing process.
We wish to acknowledge the generosity of Dr. Veronica Njie-Carr, whose contribution
from the funeral charity funds of her husband, the late Dr. James (Jimmy) Carr, covered
all shipping and import charges. Such financial support from donors is vital to GDEI’s
mission of supporting development efforts in The Gambia.
